Photographer's Note
I Ask myself WHY ?
Not because of any other reason that WHY did I take a picture of the word RIGHT, right below the wonderful Countries Parliment buildings ( or more correctly - RIGHT Below BIG BEN)
Why, Maybe beacuse of the political swing of the country away from the LEFT?( at that time); Maybe because I had RIGHT to- Its a free country; Maybe I was in a RIGHEOUS mood- who knows? and then again does it really matter !!!
Explanation!!
For those who have trapsed through the streets of London on foot will know that there is a word misssing from this image - LOOK as in LOOK RIGHT.. Its right below those pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights.. (Infact its very helpful it also has a little arrow pointing -- RIGHT)
Its for safety reasons and to reduce the risk of you and other pedestrians who have a tendancy to look LEFT first before looking RIGHT - which you would do if you can from say Europe, Americas and even some African and Asian Countries - in fact from most other parts of the world where you drive on the RIGHT. you see we being British and like being different, drive on the LEFT ( debatable point).. so if you were walking through the streets of London, visiting from those countries outside of say the Commonwealth and you looked LEFT first - you would not see the traffic as - You guessed it - its coming from the RIGHT !
Confused?? Yup so am I-- They say the English Language is confusing - well a guess we have the RIGHT to make it confusing- we made it from a mixture of so many languages.. Countries that now drive on the ..... ???? OH well-- I guess just enjoy the sights of LONDON - Its a beautiful City..

Hello Richard,
It seems the streets of London are no longer as clean as I was brought up to believe. In spite of the rubbish you have created a graphically quite appealing picture and provided us with an amusing note.
Have a nice weekend,
Gert

Hi Rich,
oh yeah - the English language... very confusing LOL
As we say in Russia, "English is the kind of language where you write "Manchester" but read it as "Liverpool" ;)
I like the note to this photo: it is interesting - emotional and very descriptive at the same time :)
Interesting detail - I mean what you show in your photo - which, without doubt, says a lot about the place (people, culture as well) :)
Very good technical quality of the image: the surface of the road looks so real that I want to touch it to make sure it is not a photo LOL
no kidding...
wish you a nice evening :)
warm greetings from Moscow,
Elena

Hi Richard,
Of course, we all know that the correct side of the road on which to drive is the left: after all, ask any horseman/woman and they will always say they mount their horse from the left side, the natural kerbside. So, as far as I know, that's the reason why we adopted that side in the first place. So quite why these other abberant nations have decided to disobey natural laws, I have no idea.
Right, so you're feeling righteous? Right. Only right so to be. As long as you're right, otherwise not quite so right, but certainly not left. Less right is definitely not left. Sinister, perhaps, but certainly not left.
Well, it's your right, whether or not you're right - but I do believe you to be right. I, of course, reserve the right to decide whether this picture is right or not right but, basically, I think it's quite right that you should present such a picture which rights our quandary over decision regarding the difference between right and left.
Right?
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Richard
You were right to publish this picture with the note. It's a daily street image not prepared because we can see some papers and cigarettes on the pavement.
Spend a good WE

Hello Richard
Playful note & ditto picture. Quite a pity that someone LEFT some garbage in your frame.
