Photographer's Note
Afyonkarahisar sits on top of a large promonotory of volcanic rock overlooking the city of Afyon. The rock has been fortified since the Bronze Age, when the Hittites ruled over the land. The name translates roughly to "Dark Fortress of Opium". The Afyon province was a major producer of opium during the Ottoman Empire and up until the 1960's.

Hello Peter,
I spent a day or two in this town in 1974 and at least this street doesn't seem to have changed at all. Hopefully other parts are now well into the 21st century. The light is good, colours are fine and the boy on the bike also brightens the picture. So does the woman at the green entrance to the red building.
Regards,
Gert

Impressive rock, you captured it very well, using the line of the rock to give verticality at the image. I like the triangular shape of the row of the houses. The little guy remembers us the proportion between nature and men...

Elena
