Surprisingly, there wasn't a single image of the traditional Ifugao huts, in 9 pages of TE uploads, only a closeup of a water buffalo skull adorning the wall of a hut. The only other shot of an Ifugao hut was from Bataad, way over to the east of Banaue, & a different style of architecture. (These huts at Hapao / Hungduan area are north west of Banaue) http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Asia/Philippines/Cagayan_Valley/Ifugao/Batad/photo142148.htm
TE is based on learning about our world through photography, so here are 2 Hapao / Hungduan area huts! The one at left has its door closed, & the one at right is opened. They are built on stilts to prevent rodents & snakes entering. Sadly, the Ifugao culture is in decline, & this is a tourist park museum that only Filipino tourists seem to know about. There are a couple of chickens at left. These days, the Ifugao rarely live in these traditional type of thatched huts, & now wear Western style clothes, instead of loincloths. Taken in the Hapao / Hungduan area of the Ifugao Rice terraces, outside the nearest large town of Banaue.

Hello Chris ,
Interested by traditional and rural buildings , I like a lot this shot . Berfore reading your note , I was almost sure that it was a museum . All over the world , people prefer to live in modern houses .
Great ambiance of teh tropical mountains in the BG .

A fine capture of these traditional houses set in their environment. I like the soft light engendered by the cloudy sky; the verdant hills make a splendid backdrop for the houses with their thatch like roofs. Very well presented with excellent colours and clarity. Have a good weekend.

Very picturesque everyday scene. This reminds me of the traditional way of life when people were more attached to the nature. Good work, enjoy the weekend.

this is a beautiful place, as you say TE is based on learning about our world through photography and your image is a good example of this, good details and good colors, well done,

The distance between the huts and the mountains is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the huts. The cloudy sky is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

A fantastic view here with the green rainforest hills behind. This is a very different but also very fine "architecture", well worth showing us all on TE!

I'm glad you posted it! The huts really match with the landscape. I like the pov and composition a lot.Such a special atmosphere with those clouds covering the top of the mountains.Unfortunately, what's happening here is happening in many other places around the world - people start leaving their habits and traditions. Philippines is on my list for a long time!
