Galaxidi bougainvillea, a photo from Fokida, Central Greece

Photographer's Note

Bougainvillea is a genus of flowering plants native to South America from Brazil west to Peru and south to southern Argentina (Chubut Province). Different authors accept between four and 18 species in the genus. They are thorny, woody vines growing anywhere from 1-12 meters tall, scrambling over other plants with their spiky thorns. The thorns are tipped with a black, waxy substance. They are evergreen where rainfall occurs all year, or deciduous if there is a dry season. The leaves are alternate, simple ovate-acuminate, 4-13 cm long and 2-6 cm broad. The actual flower of the plant is small and generally white, but each cluster of three flowers is surrounded by three or six bracts with the bright colours associated with the plant, including pink, magenta, purple, red, orange, white, or yellow. Bougainvillea glabra is sometimes referred to as "paper flower" because the bracts are thin and papery. The fruit is a narrow five-lobed achene...etc..wikipedia

Il vicoletto leggermente in ombra e la luce alla fine danno profondità e prospettiva all'immagine.

The dark blue window shutters and the blue-red flowers are beautiful together, in a perfect colour harmony. The whole composition is very pleasing and the summer heat is quite apparent here.

Cet arbuste fleuri t'a permis de réaliser un joli cadrage. Un très joli village. L'image me semble un tout petit peu trop claire (sur mon écran en tout cas!)

Hi Georgios,
I had the pleasure to visit Galaxidi very long time ago, but all the photos over there I took with an analog bad quality small camera so they are not good to show in public. I am so glad to see a picture from this charming place. The streets seem to be so full of sun. Amazing flowers make a great decoration of the house.

Hello Georgios,
beautiful composition where the bougainvilleas guides the glance to visit the image.
The opposition between the blue of the window and the pink of bougainvilleas is more beautiful effect. On the other hand limps it red on the left disturbs a little too the glance (see the WS that I propose to you).

A very beautiful corner in that town. The blue of the window shutters and the pink of the bougainvillea go very well together. What I like the most is that the overhanging branches of the bougainvillea create a kind of natural arch in the street.

Hi Georgios!

A very attractive street scene. Love how you've positioned the bougainvilla at the top of the frame as it gives a nice colorful border. Those blue and white windows are a nice accent and highlight to the image as well. I think you could manage to lower the curves and levels of the image as I find it a bit overexposed-It will just bring in rich tones to everything especially the bricks. TFS

Πολύ ενημερωτική η σημείωση σου για τήν πανέμορφη μπουκαμβίλια αλλά εμένα αυτή η φωτογραφία μου θυμίζει το μικρό πανδοχείο του "Γανυμήδη" στο Γαλαξείδι, ενα πολύ ρομαντικό μικρό πανδοχείο με έντονα τα στοιχεία τής φωτογραφίας σου. Ονειρεύομαι ότι κάθομαι σε αυτήν την αυλή, κάτω απο τήν μπουκαμβίλια και γεύομαι το παραδοσιακό πρωινό με τίς χειροποίητες μαρμελάδες και το φρέσκο ψωμί!Πουθενά στον κόσμο δεν υπάρχουν τέτοιες μοναδικές γωνιές σάν αυτή!
Νά είσαι καλά πού με τίς φωτογραφίες σου ξυπνάς τίς αναμνήσεις μου!
