Photographer's Note

This is the entrance to Huishan Ancient Town. Atop the hill in Xihui Park are Longguang Pagoda and Temple ("the luster of dragon"). The magnificent Longguang Pagoda is the symbol of Wuxi City. Built in the Ming Dynasty, the 32.2 meters high pagoda is a brick and wood structure, with 7 stories and 8 angles. The pagoda commands a full view of Wuxi City. Standing on the pagoda, you can not only see the high buildings in the city but fields, Tai Hu lake and hills.
Beneath Longguang Pagoda is Longguang Cave. The 300 meters long cave used to be an air raid shelter during the 1937 invasion of China by Japan & again during World War II.

Hello Chris,

This is a dramatic shot, with a dramatic note. The glowing pagoda at the the peak, and what appears to be brilliant red mini-lanterns hanging hanging from the trees add color highlight. The vertical format is most appropriate in a scene like this. Finally, I like the 'freshness' of the photo, shot and submitted on the same day.

Hello Chris,
Effective use of the vertical format makes a good juxtaposition between the pagoda perched on top of the hill and the modern concrete building below. The red lanterns make a nice splash against the pale grey tones of the architecture.

Hi Chris,

The trees are framing well the building. The distance between the building and the pagoda is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the detail and colors of the architecture of the building. The late afternoon light is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Chris,

Wodnerful shot, I love the mood you have captured at the end of the day. The light is already on illuminated the pagoda nicely and I can see the red lanterns are also very deep in the colors.

Certainly has that old town look to it. Very moody and beautiful.
