Helicoptor Island, a photo from Palawan, Southern Tagalog

Photographer's Note

If you wander a short distance away from where the tour boats dock, it's possible to find an uncrowded section of beach, such as this, on Helicoptor Island, in the Bacuit Archipelago, off El Nido. (Also known as Dilumacad Island). El Nido is at the northern tip of Palawan. Daytrips from El Nido are only about 500-700 pesos or $12-15. Helicoptor Island is named because of its shape, when seen from a distance out in the bay.

That's Cadlao Island in the distance. It, too, has some gorgeous beaches, & good snorkelling over the fringing coral reefs just offshore.

What a wonderful tropical beach ! The moutain scenery is splendid . The picture is perfectly composed , with the "classical" tall cocnut tree .

A lovely composition of this tropical paradise. I like the point of view and the use of the shoreline to draw us into the scene toward the palm tree and then onto the rocky headland. Lovely light and natural colours and excellent sharpness.

I simply envy you, I lived in the Philippines but I've never visited this place or even Palawan in my life. I guess this photo of yours is an opener and an invitation! The beach is sending my eyes toward the mountains which is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the beach, of the trees and of the mountains. The late afternoon light is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.
