My thoughts are with the Philippines today, after 2 devastating typhoons passed over Luzon Island this week. Taken after sunset, with a new Nikon D90, so I was amazed at the shadow detail still visible. My old film camera wouldn't have stood any chance of a decent shot in such low light levels. This is taken from the road, carved into the cliff.

A great rice terrace photo seen from what almost appears to be a bird's eye view! Beautifully done in the low light with all of the great colors and subtleties showing. An amazing water world. Very well seen and very well done, warm regards,

I like this vertiginous pov on the village surrounded by the rice fields, not yet ready except for a few parcels. It is nicely presented and framed.
Unfortunately Philippines is a country which is often affected by the typhoons...
BTW, felicitations for your new camera ;D

These rice terraces ought to be counted among the wonders of the world. When you see this picture, you realize how much hard work is necessary tu cultivate the rice. I like the perspective you shot this from, you chose a very appropriate angle of view. The small village is a strong point in the composition. The terraced fields logged with water create a wonderful pattern reflecting colours of various shades. A great shot !

The downwards point of view shows the contours and patterns in the landscape to wonderful effect. The image is well composed with the village compound nicely placed in the frame. Pleasant soft green tones and very good sharpness.

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The point of view is allowing me to see the details and colors of the rice terraces. Using an ISO of 1600 is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

POV and framing very well selected for the presentation of this superb and very graphic landscape. Good balance in the composition too with the small village well off-centred on the right and an importnat part of the image resreved for the terraces. Good but too very interesting post for TE.

Quel graphisme avec la nature!
J'aime beaucoup toutes ces nuances de verts et le bon cadrage du village dans l'image.

What an amazing POV! The curved shapes of green and the small cluster of buildings in the rice terraces make a wonderful pattern. Lovely quality.

In 1998 I've also visited Banaue and Batad and I remember the magnificent views of the rice terraces seen from high POV's.
You composed this picture very well with the capricious shapes of these terraces that surround the village and the few trees.
Wonderful how all the houses are built so close to each other on a small area. Looking at the tower on the roof of the nearest building, I assume that is the church.
The trees on the hill at the other side are nicely reflected in the water of one of the fields on top of the picture.
Best regards, Paul

It is interesting to see how the village is located in this narrow space, tightly surrounded by the famous rice terraces!
This place offers amazing points of view, here well made use of showing the setting very well...

Good bird view shot to show farm houses built at the middle of agricultural land, clear to show the geographical feature too, beautiful rice terraces shot, distinct image, well done.

Awesome capture of the famous rice terraces. I've never been north of Manila but I have relatives living in northern Luzon. I like your pov and details are sharp and crisp with wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.
The Philippines seems to be getting a lot of typhoons this year and I feel sorry for them. Yes, I'm here in TE also but you might see the same photos from TL except for the flowers.
Didi (57494) 2011-10-15 5:05
Interesting dominant position with nice greens.
An original view for european people.
carolskie007 (487) 2011-11-29 23:41
Am surprised by the clarity of colors and details of this image considering it was taken after sunset(???). Usually, in this part of mountain province, you only get this clear view (fog free) from 7AM to around 3PM.
very interesting shot and note.
