Northwest corner of the Duomo di Milano, numerous and marvelous sculptured-turrets on the roof.
I was impressed with the fine art of the Gothic-architecture's.
In the WS, a view of the Duomo.

16:9 aspect ratio - slightly cropped on it's lower part.

It is many years since I visited Milan, but who can forget the magnificent Gothic cathedral. Your close-up shot shows the wonderful sculpture work to great effect under a pleasing soft light. Very good clarity.

Hello Ike,
Again a picture of a part of a well known building of which we ususally get to see the complete view and again I'm surprised about the beautiful details of which we're not aware.
There are so many sculptures carved on each turret and the biggest of all are standing on the tops.

Curiously, this wonderful example of Italian Gothic architecture is not very represented in TE, probably in Milan there are a few members. Fortunately there are good photographers like you that capture this beautiful Cathedral that is the symbol of the city. Now this really is spectacular. You have again chosen a close-up (as in the one of the Tower of Pisa) which highlights the amazing details. Gothic is my favourite architectural style, and in my humble opinion, there is no bettr example of it than the Duomo di Milano. Excellent job, have a good day.

to show us the dome using only some details of the "pinnacoli" is a beautiful idea. also the sky has helped in this, the clouds are always an optimal background for the architectures. i like the final result nearly abstract.

these small towers are very unusual and I never saw something like this in other church. nice view of these details, nice framing and sharpness. we can enjoy the beauty of the architecture and its addornments here. TFS.

you had very good idea to capture it in this way.I like such detail shots,which focus on certain detail of building.The picture has outstanding sharpness and very good lighing.All of these beautiful sculptures and ornamentations are perfectly visible.Unfortunately,when I was there few years ago,the whole facade was renovated,so we took pictures motly in the interior of this beautiful cathedral.

I love this Duomo. I remember walking on the roof during my visit many years ago. I like that you chose to show a view of the turrets only, with a wonderful blue sky behind them. The details are wonderful. It is great when buildings are not only functional, but when they also double as works of art.

Hi Ike,
I remember going to Milan in 1983 ! And I had the same impression as you about the fine stone lace covering the whole of this formidable cathedral !
So, when you take a general view of the building, you can't possibly distinguish the details of the sculptures.
You did quite well in photographing this small part of the roof, in order to show us some of the beautiful, sharp details.
The POV makes me want to give my own title to the picture : "The way to Heaven".

Going up to Duomo can someone understand the grandeur of the temple. The details are fascinating and patterns, shapes and statues simply impressive. I was there in 2009 for Easter and i had a great time.
