Taming the bull, to stay on you must follow the the high jumping up of the bull.

Two young man died in Alanganallur as they were picked up by the horns of the bull.

excellent moment and a very good composition, I don't like this post-processing much - the contrast between the bull and everything around is too high to my taste, but the scene is great

i dont like the post processing much. it makes the subject stand out a little too much and doesn't look very natural.. sometimes dusty shots can be very nice too
i hope you can post the original as a workshop sometime

Henk - this is just fantastic - great positioning for the moment - to catch everything off the ground - perhaps the background/foreground colour seperation is a little too contrasted for my liking but otherwise excellent! I really like the inclusion of the foreground figure too but again perhaps a little too 'faded' out.

holy moley, this picture is soooo incredible. you must have felt so excited after you took it -- "i just got a good one, tee hee..." i can't believe the clarity of the image! also the people's expressions in the background are so great. and i love the fact that he and the bull are floating above the ground, yet look so muscley and heavy and dynamic.

agree w/ comments about post-processing... it's too evident esp in the bottom right corner.

wicked good. you deserve a day off.

wow! Jallikattu Expert! No Doubt, you have captured a great moment here Henk!! I also like the shadows of the Bull.

About the Post processing technique.. the contrast difference is pretty large, may be a little more contrast to the background would be my choice.

Did you notice that this guy in the blueT got the maximum number of Prizes? Gold Chains, Rings, Dhoties, Shirts, T-Shirts, Cookers... what not!

Again a dynamic shot just freezed what you are performing these days.
I started looking at your photographs regularly with a shot of this event, Jallikattu, last year. This is a much more interesting one.

Henk het wordt met dag moeilijker om iemand te vinden, nu zijn er al 14 a 15 bladen dagelijks om te zoeken, ik zie er hier een paar tussen van zeer hoog kwaliteit, iedereen wil het zien en iedereen heeft zeer grote schrik, dit zijn beelden die bijdragen aan het actuele leven om te tonen aan de wereld. Schitterend genomen.

spectaculaire Henk, l'action est superbe. Peut-être que le fond est un peu trop différent en luminosité du sujet (le taureau). Ce n'est pas trop dérangeant, mais j'aimerai voir l'original.

Henk, amazing shot. Full of action, thrill and adrenaline. Enough has been written about the contrast between the main subject and the rest. But what I like is the frozen action of the bull and man in the air and people in the back that are backing off because they are afraid to get hit by the bull. Great!

One of the best action shots I have seen on TE till date. You have captured the essence of the whole situation. The people huddling in fear in the background, the raging bull and the brave man trying to tame the bull. Very well seen and thanks for sharing this picture.

excellent shutter speed and i like the scared looks of the viewers around as opposed to the sharpness of the bull and its rider... nice shot! do they kill it afterwards like in the corridas? or nothing as such? is this blood or paint on its back?

Your composition is pretty good, but your skills with photoshop aren't. You desaturated all the background, but you forgot behind the horns and also between the feet of the guy and the bull. Your original picture is probably better than this one.

A small bull, but his aggression can still be seen. This man is brave to run along with the beast. I find it amazing that he would venture to run along with the animal, but in bare feet?.... If he gets stepped over, say bye bye to his toes.

I really like the people behind the main subject. They really look in fear and kind of amazed that this man would take on such actions.

Those little horns...deceiving but very pointy and sharp. Not my game....!! Great picture... this is a money shot for sure.

No, I don't think you'd find me riding or chasing a bull...
Interesting choice in post production but it seems to work well here. The action is very well captured and the look of fear is well realised on the faces in the backdrop.

Great shot! The moment in the air, the focus on the bull and the person. The bull seams to be lying off the picture. And the one expectator at the bottom right just helps!

wow, it's impressive! you got me with it. great moment caught. I don't like the guy in the bottom right corner so dimmed and the central figure with a bull so sharp. seems unnatural. but that was on second thought only when I made myself look at it critically. composition is very good though.

Fabulous picture, Henk. The facial expressions of the men in the back and the body postures of the man to the left and the one to the right are memorable. Compositionally I also like the way these men in the background move in a direction opposite to that of the bull and the man trying to climb on the bull.

Good action capture here. This is one of the exciting, but also dangerous looking photos i have seen on TE to date. It looks like the spectators should be further away behind a barrier. Anyway, you composition is very good with all four feet off the ground. Well done.
