A daily life scene from the “earthquake village” of Duzce..

In 1999, 17.000 people died during Marmara earthquake....
after the earthquake, thousands of people started living in the prefabricated cottages...now there is only one prefabricated village in Duzce…
Düzce is a small city and it went though 2 earthquakes in last 6 years..

We know what it is to live after a serious earthquake…and we share sadness of people going through it now…

Very nice picture Metin. It really captures a somber and resigned mood. Good composition using the two rows of buildings to good effect and the lighting/contrast and color all work together. Excellent!

hi Metin,
I think you are talking about the "official" number of lost people..as far as I know it is around 35-40.000 with the mountain-subterrain villages...

very good picture presenting the daily life there...man must be a seller of fruits or vegetables on his cart..

A striking picture Metin, I like the light, colours and the moment and for sharing the context of what it means - my niece lives in a house like this on a small island on the outskirts of London in the River Thames. The area is very affluent but not everyone on the island is that well off. For their small community they had the disaster of a fire a few years back , luckily no one killed and a small number of dwellings lost but just this small event was traumatic for them all. It is hard to imagine multiplying this thousands of times and the appalling loss of life that went with it. My heart goes out to you and anyone that has witnessed and experienced such a thing.
