Photographer’s Note
Late afternoon in the spring, I came upon a little park by the Bow River after crossing the town of Banff and going towards the Banff Spring Hotel. That tree was making a remarkable statement given its roots were exposed to the cold of winter and the warmth of the summer months. Yet it still found the energy to produce leaves. I framed it so that we could see the river and the mountain with its snow in the far distance. A rugged yet very lively habitat.
I like the textures between the rocky gravel, the roots and bark and the river. Hope you enjoy it too.

Very nice photo Genevieve. I really enjoy this scene, it has a lot of feeling and you framed the scene very well. Just perfect.

Agréable composition qui exprime bien la puissance de la nature. Manque un petit peu de soleil pour donner un peu de chaleur mais nous n'avons pas toujours ce choix à notre disposition.

You should come here again Gene, for a sunny appearance. This composition is expressive but the detail is a bit grungy and the light, subdued. Pretty sombre don't you think. Then again, if this is the effect you were looking for, your composition and exposure, did it.
