In the fall we went for a drive in northern Wermland. This region is not too far from the economic centers of Scandinavia, in fact much closer than other desolate Swedish regions that I have travelled. Still there was something special with the pulse along road 62. I have never before stumbled over so many private houses that have been left to die. Could it be a cultural thing, are people in Wermland less prone to save the house at all costs than people in the north of the country?

I liked your pictures when I was a newcomer to TE a few years ago but haven't seen many recently. This was a decent house a few decades ago, very typical for the area, and the forest makes a perfect background. The inclusion of the blue and yellow sign is a nice little detail. A couple of times in recent years I have revisited the village in western Värmland, near the border, where I grew up long ago, and it was like this. Lots of abandoned private houses left to die. A very sad sight.
