Also known sometimes as "King John's Castle" this is the largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland. It was completed in 1220 and today is undergoing extensive renovation. It was used as a location for the film, "Braveheart" (1995).
Scanned from 35mm colour negative and converted to greyscale. |

I wonder why noone has written a comment to your photo. It is very nice. The pov is very good , so it is making the castle to look imposing. The sky is impressive, and the b/w add atmosphere to the schene.Needs a little rotation as i think , but it is ok. Good job!
Nikolaos has right- this is a very nice photo. Interesting perspective in taking this Castle and great sky. I send greetings.
That's an old castle ! Very nice subject. The B&W is a good choice. Comoposition is perfectible but it's a nice shot Michael !

a strong and very moody B/W composition.

Is it just me or is there something about the clouds converging above the castle? I definitely appreciated the dramatic b&w interpretation of the scene; the contrast of the bricks in the walls and the blackness of the clouds provide for quite and impact.
Fantastic place.
I was there in 2005 too.
I think it's an impressive site and these clouds make it even more shocking.
I think i never posted pics i took there, and i should do it soon :-)
Bye
