I love your series on pollution. I was curious on how much PP you did on this. The colour seem, although very nice, a bit unnatral. Keep it going! I love it.

Only problem here i cant get your note. is it your subject that the sea tranport w/c contribute 10%.
For the photo, i like the POV here. I was on the CN tower before(last may).

Very impressive shot. The colors look like in some of Turner's paintings!
The contrast between the rusty ship closing the foreground and the proud shape of the tower at the back can serve as a paradigm of our modern technological world…

L'aspect apocalyptique de cette photo rejoint bien le commentaire, un peu un monde sombre et de désolation comme nous le proposent pas mal de films futuristes.
J'aime beaucoup l'aspect du ciel.

VEry dramatic look that works very well with your information on pollution. Nice compo too, seeing the CN tower situates the scene and really adds to the pic.

Amazing light and atmosphere you captured here Peter - The red sky and the composition of boats with interesting reflections makes your note stronger - yes Water a must for all life - and also an element of danger. Thanks for sharing.

Strong setting Peter. Like an articifal made 'movie scene'. The brownish impact, the swans or ducks there, the tower - fine details perfect for this compo, good notes.

Now,
why this reminds me of illustrations usually found on covers of SF novels/comics from the '50s & '60s?
Probbaly because of the elements of the doom seen everywhere within the frame.
Excellent job, Peter!

Beautiful photo and composition Peter, I find the subdued light fantastic, I like how it brings out the rusty texture of the hull to the right. Contrast and colours are superb and I like the inclusion of the high tower to the left it balances the picture. Well done!

It's surreal. The ice in the foreground. The overcast warmth, the sunset + citylights. Just surreal. Tomek

The stunning vast range of colours is perfectly 'held together' by the beatiful soft light. Absolutely great. The sharpness and richness of detail and overall good compo makes this a poster-worthy pic (although it is probably too gloomy to hang over the couch;). Great work!
PS: I bet that a lot of us could learn a lot from technical notes!

You are again very well conveying the description of your note Peter. This excellent picture would fit perfectly well with an end of the world mood, on a very polluted planet as you see them in sci-fi. Mixing the boats with the sci-fi looking tower in the background make it very effective in this respect. Everything's turning to rust, and still the name of the boat is so sharp and so new, so the world continues as if nothing was happening.
This is very professional work imo.

Great shot Peter!
I would love to know some more shooting details for this one mate. What were the original conditions like? Did you have to do a lot of darkening, increased saturation etc?
The effect you've attained is superb! I'm envious, I'd like to try working some of your magic here on some of my shots!
Cheers mate,

First Edit: [2005-02-27 11:52]
I think your whole collection of pictures on TE is stunning and I have chosen this one to stop by and say it to you... :o)
It just does not look real! Because you made a too beautiful image - [or is it an acryllic painting and you're cheating!] - of the huge pollution problematic you're talking about in your excellent note. But see here the sulphurous and "poisonned" air in background, it looks like coming from fairy tales - [or is it Hell?]
- And the rusty ship have such a wonderful texture and warm tones. Even the flag looks like you have painted it that way, proudly waving its fresh colours.
Absolutely wonderful work! I wish I had discovered you earlier...
* NB - Later Edit: I've proposed this picture for the TE Book but I just realized I needed your written autorization. Would you mind? :o)
Amicalement - Viviane

To jest diabolicznie dobre zdjecie, Piotrek
Notka ?

how you got such a good exposure(with limited equipment) is amazing -- thanks for letting us know about post-processing(via voodoo).
its just a really good photo, as you no doubt already know -- maybe too good as the quality of photography present in this photo transcends/overshadows the message.

Hello Peter
Thank you for sharing such a great photo and a subject that seems to affect us all.
About the photo first. The choice of composition, POV and general idea behind the photo is excellent. The two ships do interfere with eachother slightly, but this is only a slight matter. Overall the great post processing preserves the colours and the almost dark nature of the subject in the note.
Overall, an excellent photo.
