Photographer’s Note
Hello Friends! In trekearth you can find many photos of the Hagia Sofia from nearby distances, but a very few of them show it from the sea. Here in this photo I have taken exactly one year ago, Hagia Sofia is seen where and how it stands. Please also note the medieval walls surrounding the old Istanbul just on the sea level.
My other Hagia Sofia Photos are (actually is) here:

Long time no see! Happy new year and welcome back. Beautiful Ottoman structure, well framed with an excellent foregroung that reminds us of the important waterways in Istanbul.

It's great to see another one from you. Great view from the sea. The sea view I think is the best view of them all, now seeing it. and it gives the feel of the ancient way of entering the city, by ship, from all over the Mediterranean. This definitely would have been and still is quite a magnificent site. I really like the layers here. Sea, wall, and then terraces up to the Hagia Sophia like a man-made mountain rising above the strait. And despite it looking small on the hill it still comes across so large. the scaffolding really gives scale I think. Excellent capture of it from the water adding to your other great shots from the water. And Happy New Year to you, Seda.
