Church of the Third Order of Carmo

The construction of the church date of 1744, having been ordered to build by members of the Third Order of Carmo. Its façade, however, was only finished building in 1792. With a portico of the Baroque style, the plan of this temple is a Latin cross. The architecture of its interior dominated the Rococo style.
Throughout his single ship are distributed six chapels: the first part of the Gospel, is dedicated to Prophet Elias - founder of the Order of Carmo; ahead is the altarpiece of the chapel dedicated to St. Teresa of Avila, followed by to them, bordering each other the twin altars of St. Albert and St. Efigénia respectively on the side of the Gospel and Epistle-side. Finally, next to the door, there are the altars of St. Anthony and Our Lady. The two side altars are the triumphal arch of the invocation of the Lord and the Steps of Our Lady of Anguish. In the Chancel, the highlight was the joint main altarpiece, as well as painting the ceiling of the vault with feigned architecture and central screen with a representation of Our Lady of Mount Carmo
, to deliver the Scapular to St. Simon Stock. The authorship of the paintings exist are due to Jose Ferreira da Rocha and Joaquim José Rasquinho.
The bishop of Faro, Dom Inácio de Santa Teresa, is buried here.
