Because I live in BC its a treat for me to see these huge Grain Elevators in the prairies. While travelling through in the morning we reached this one at dawn. The light seemes perfect to record this at this low angle. Comments welcome as always

true, ligh was indeed excellent and you managed to make a perect use of it; a stunning pic of that rural landscape; great job garden

The color, focus and light are beautiful - well seen. The perspective seems a bit off - perhaps from a wide lens. I hope you don't mind a workshop.

Great colors and sharpness, pleasant light. I think however that a tighter framing and a less central composition would have produced an image with stronger impact. 150 pixels could be cropped from the bottom and 200 from left.

Grain elevators are a nice site on the prairie. You've captured this one in good light, nice and sharply and with good contrast. The point of view is nice here, also. The sky was also helping a bit. And a lonely car along the stretch of road which comes out nicely right to the edge. Perhaps correcting for the perspective distortion might make it seem broader. The way the elevator tilts inward from looking up at it makes it seem closed in and tight. And if you had two photos, showing a bit more on the road side and stitched them together that horizontal feel for the prairie might be even stronger yet. But as it is it still captures an idea of the breadth of space and the way these "skyscrapers" break that space. Nice work.

Very nice shot. I love the colour of low lying sun.
You have done some very beautiful pictures of Canada!
For this particular shot, if I may suggest, it likely would be more visually appealing if the grain elevator is positioned more to the left, allowing the straight line of highway to lead towards the 1/3 grid line of the picture. Besides, the cloud on the left does not add to the picture and you won't miss it. What do you think?

This is really gorgeous, the light you get on the prairies always has such an amazing effect when taking photos. One thing, though. I would have maybe tried moving further to the left, onto the train tracks possibly, to take the photo.

As it is, the elevators seem kind of overly slanted, but that's only a minor concern. :)

Hello!
I really love Grain Elevators (Maybe because I am studying agriculture) and this picture really satisfies me!

Hi Paul,

I just love looking through your shots. Great colours, you really get rewarded shooting at dawn (despite how difficult it is to get up :)

Take care and thanks for you ongoing contributions.
