Photographer’s Note
The island of Papa Westray has a population of about 70, and appears at first sight to be idyllicly peaceful. However, as in many small communities, tensions are not far below the surface. This well-situated farmhouse had fallen into ruin because the children of the deceased farmer could not agree on how their inheritance should be divided between them. The result is very clearly that none of them benefited, and they all lost.
