Photographer’s Note
This is the Glasgow Science Centre and Glasgow Tower on the River Clyde. This is in the Govan district of Glasgow traditionally a rather tough working class neighbourhood, hit badly by the decline of the shipbuilding industry - the remaining shipyard is in the distance. The Science centre is part of an attempt to regenerate a derelict section of the river and "do a Bilbao" by attracting tourists with modern architecture. I wanted to do a shot that combined the new building with the older aspects of this part of the city - the cranes and tenement buildings in the backdrop....
I should have used an ND grad to darken the sky and a polariser to remove the glare from the buildings in the background when I took the pic but at the time I don't think I even knew what an ND grad was - I did my best to fix those problems in photoshop when I scanned the slide though.
