Pretty, but needs a tad more sharpening to make the rock striations come out better.

I remember seeing that one recently and this version is really better. Too bad you didn't just repost so we can compare the improvement between the two shots. Personally I find that there is enough sharpness to keep it realistic. Nice job with the sky you didn't fall into the trap of making it necessarely blue, it has a nice grey which matches the grey on the rock. and I understand that you used the cloud filter in PS and well done.

Bravo, this is a truly outstanding photo. Let's hope we'll see more from this series... I'm curious to see what is behind that gate.

nice, these buddhist holy montains are really impressive and you captured it all here!
One point I'm not sure about is, what to think of all these local tourists... On the one hand, their simple presence destroys the atmoshphere; on the other hand, they bring life to the place...
So maybe u're right, in China, let's not lie, they're part of it, so let's include them!

I have heard about this location but didn't have time to visit when I was in Kunming two years ago.
The Western Hills (Tây Sơn), a band of sheer cliff faces, rise 2,000 feet above the shores of Lake Dian. The Cliffside grottos — originally cut out of sheer stone walls by Wu Laiqing and his band of daring monks over a 54-year-period starting in 1781 — begin in earnest. The walk is not for the faint of heart. The caves and niches along the way contain statues trimmed from rock, serving as shrines to Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) and other Daoist deities.
Thank you for this great shot. I hope to return to the area and have a chance to climb myself.
Regards,
