Photographer’s Note

"Autumn is the eternal corrective. It is ripens and color and a time of maturity;
but it is also breadth, and depth and distance.
What person can stand with autumn on a hilltop and fail to see the span of their world and the meaning of the rolling hills that reach to the far horizon?"
------ HAL BORLAND

This is my second photo of a rare occurence in the Colorado River Canyon area, a quick and large rainstorm creating hundreds of waterfalls. The stains or varnish on the sedimentary cliff are the result of thousands of years of water. If the waterfalls were frequent they would erode away the rock and the chemical deposits.

PS: I prefer the natural lighting and lack thereof during the storm. No need to cricize the lack of contrast, because the sun was totally blotted out by the storm and clouds.
