Photographer’s Note

London, Bridge street, in front of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

A good place, busy and touristic, to try to make money. That's the idea of a little group of young people with mohawk, black rocker and jeans full of holes.

The punk movement attracted all the spotlights on London in the midle of the Seventies, in the wake of bands like the Sex Pistols, the Clash, the Damned or the Stranglers...
London was the heart of this scene and protest movement that was beyond the only music.

Like in Liverpool for the Beatles, some continue to keep the myth alive and try to make money on the punk memory.

So, in front of Big Ben, these postcard punks exchanged a picture of them or a portrait with them for a coin.
A non-paid picture of these "picturesque" people was forbiden ; these tourists were reprimanded for that.

As for me, I thought these punks were far away from the punk spirit of the 70'-80' !

PS : we can also see false punks at the popular Camden market
