Photographer’s Note

Here you can see the central square of Kayseri (in greek "Καισάρεια"="Kesaria"), the Cumhuriyet Meydani ("Square of the Republic"), with the Yeni Camii ("New Mosque") and the Citadel (the "Ic Kale"="inner fortress") of the old fortified town.

It is considered one of the fastest developing cities in Turkey, financially and comercially. The rapid increase of its population proves it. On the other hand, it is also considered one of the most "conservative" cities of Turkey (along with Konya) in religious terms and the islamic rules are followed strickly.

As a consenquence, there 's not much to do in Kayseri at night. You can find some extremely good Iskender Kebab, excellent pastirma, but almost no alcohol at all, except on the bars of some major hotels. This photo was taken from the roof bar of a big hotel.
