View from the edge of Piton de la Fournaise crater.
This is the non active part of the volcano. You can climb down many stairs and take a 1 hour walking trek across loose lava stones to the right in order to reach the actual and still active part of the volcano and its new crater. The recent outbreaks however happened outside of the new crater, where the volcano decends down to the coast and the indian ocean.
