Construction funded by the son of Tiberius Aquila July (Tiberius Iulius Aquila), who also bequeathed the city a large sum to purchase books. The architect of the monument remains unknown.
The facade of luxury is the western boundary of the Lower Plunger, forming an impressive architectural complex.
The Library of Kelso dominates the south of the Square (Merchant) Market of Ephesus.
Together with the Library of Alexandria in Egypt and the Library of Pergamon are the largest in size and brightness of library buildings of the ancient world. This is a luxurious and monumental building with both functional character. The Library of Kelso combines a striking exterior with rich architectural decoration, following the examples of the facade of the Roman theaters (scaenae frons), with a luxurious both in architecture and in the decoration within a rectangular building.
The shape and construction of the memorial makes it undoubtedly one of the most important monuments of Ephesus. For this reason has been the subject of systematic investigations concerning the actual architecture and the work of restoration and enhancement.
