Photographer’s Note

A hot summer day at the town square of historic city of Speyer. Building in the background is Alte Münze. The Old Mint was built in 1748 to be the new trading centre at the marketplace, replacing the medieval Mint, which was known as the Minters' House.

It remained a place of commerce well into the 19th century and later became the residence of various municipal authorities.
