Photographer’s Note
At the time of a stopover in Madeira, this island really deserves that l' one s' there delays and we took much pleasure to visit it damage for the clouds which was too much low. Madeira, was officially discovered in 1419 by 2 Portuguese navigators who filled with wonder by the beauty at its dense and luxuriant forest, l' called " ilha of Madeira" , l' island of wood, in Portuguese. The colonization of l' island attracted many pioneers of different nationalities (Dutch, German, French, Spanish and English), which made an attracting island of it, cosmopolitan, which developed quickly in spite of a series d' epidemics and d' French pirate raids… which shaved half of the Funchal capital in 1566. L' island was quickly known for its wine, its cane with sugar and its embroideries d' a remarkable beauty. Madeira is aujourd' today an autonomous region of Portugal, which saw primarily tourism, while continuing to develop the culture of the vine, banana, and other fruit and vegetables exotic which knew s' to acclimatize to Madeira as well as in their own natural environment. Vegetation L ' archipelago of Madeira belongs to the biogeographic area of Macaronésie which gathers the Atlantic islands of the Azores, Madeira and the Canaries. Madeira measures 57km length on 22km broad. C' is a volcanic island, with the exuberant vegetation, and the very escarpé relief. It has a natural heritage of the most scientific interest, which was included by l' UNESCO on the list of the World Natural heritage: the primary forest of Madeira, Laurissilva, which goes back to l' tertiary era of the ground. Madeira is practically a natural reserve, two thirds of the territory are protected. L' island is marked out paths and of " levadas" , narrow channels d' irrigation built by the first inhabitants to recover l' water of the mountains. C' is also the paradise of the walkers.

Hi Rosa
wonderful tree-top style photo of the land and ocean.
I'm glad you included the gondola on the right, as it adds to the overall feel of the shot.
and the cruise ships truly add size perspective.
Very well done
Cheers

Bonjour, chers amis,
