Photographer’s Note

A few kilometres to the south of Mustafapasa (in greek "Σινασσός"="Sinassos") right after you pass a village called "Cemilkoy", you will see a sign for Keslik Monastery, a place worth a visit. You can see there a small but well preserved monastic complex, whose original name was "Archangel Monastery (in greek "Μονή Αρχαγγέλου"="Moni arhangelou").

There you can see two churches, the Archangel church of the 12th century and the Saint Stephan ("Αγιος Στέφανος"="Aghios Stefanos") church of the 7th or 9th century, both of them carved inside of caves. You can see impressive frescos from 2 different eras of Byzantine art.

You can also see the cells of the monks and their winnery. This photo was taken from inside the winnery and the rock that you see through the "door" is the backside of Archangel church.

"Fill in" flash (+3EV flash power) used for better light balance. Exposure metering in the "outside".
