Photographer’s Note

The Monastery of Agia Irini is situated 5 kilometers far from Rethymnon at the South, at a small distance before arriving to the village of Roussospiti. It is one of the older monasteries on the island, as it has been established in the 10 th century. As occurs with most of the monasteries in Crete, it has been destroyed several times during the various revolutions and revolts against the Ottoman domination.

Hello Denise,

Un monastère qui semble surplomber une falaise.
Ses dômes rouges ressortent de cette image donnent un très bon contraste.
Je me demande toutefois si un format vertical n'aurait pas mieux collé à la scène.

The red roofs are so lovely against the blue sky and the position of this chapel on top of this cliff makes the photo interesting and appealing. I like the various layers: yellow, then green, ocra, red and blue. A very fine and interesting composition so clear and sharp. How many lovely things to photograph in Crete!

nice long shot with a clear sky background! i like you keep the detail of the detail of stratum at the foreground, so we can understand more history about this monastery. the red roof makes this photo colorful! good job!

Bonjour Muse,
voilà bien un POV qui nous donne une parfaite idée d'où cette église est construite. Sur ce genre de terre, tous les cm² doivent s'exploier, même en hauteur.
Superbes couleurs contrastant terres et ciel, arbres et toitures.
