Photographer’s Note
The Egyptian deity Horus has a long and varying legend as the falcon headed god, the son of Isis and Osiris.
He was known as the god of the sky and war. Isis challenged him to protect the people of Egypt from Set, the god of the desert, storms and chaos. They battled brutally, until the gods sided with Horus. Set lost a testicle in the battle which explains why the desert is infertile. And Horus' left eye was gouged out, which explains why the moon which it represented was so weak compared to the sun.
This photo is of a huge monolith over 300 feet high in Utah's Valley of the Gods. Note the green specks around the base are Utah Juniper trees 20 to 30 feet high for scale relationship.
