Photographer’s Note

A sunset moment at Sorrento, south east of Melbourne, with a brief period of warm light bursting through the clouds to highlight the rocky coastline. But such pretty moment was spoiled by the discovery of an evident of hideous crime committed at this very spot - a hand of a female left on the rock still cladded in blue sleeve of a jacket!

Hello Alfred,
The warm light really is beautiful, as are the colours of your photo and its composition. As for the evidence of the crime, perhaps you should go back and look for the head, too, it seems to have been severed from the body shown in your WS ;-)

Ha! Alfred, I've been laughing so hard I couldn't type this critique for several minutes! I thought I was missing something, turns out it's my left hand! The WS is a shocker, but at least you didn't scare our TE friends with the head! I really am going to have to get my revenge on you somehow :) As to the photo, well it's wonderful. You have played with the light so well, the sky is beautifully exposed and your DOF just superb. You made this shot look so easy when in the conditions we were shooting in, it certainly was not. Very nice view. The POV is very well chosen and the sunset light gives wonderful colours to the cliffs. Excellent sharpness too.
About this mysterious hand, I think you should call Lieutenant Columbo ;)

A well composed and picturesque scene with a touch of mystique. The way you've used the available light makes for a beautiful warm feeling and has highlighted the rocky outcrop. As for the mystery hand, well I see Lisa!

Very clever and funny, and great title! I wonder if I would have noticed it without your help. Anyway, the photo is great, with the lovely afternoon light, the shadows and the shape of the water. You chose a nice frame for it too.

Hello Alfred, I have just spent 10 minutes writing a critique for this & for some strange reason it disappeared, I wrote along the lines that you made the most of the little time the sun came out, it has produced a nice gold tone & lit the rocks & sand really well, sharp, clear with excellent colour, captured the beautiful Sorrento back beach to perfection. The hand I find funny & at the same time adding a little mystique especially knowing how uncomfortable Lisa felt the previous day being there on her own, afraid of some axe murderer. Hummm head missing in WS version

Wonderful colours. The bursting sunlight is great here against the dark of the ocean and the clouds.
Is it 'thing' from The Munsters in the blue jacket?

Fantastic effect where soft sunlight appear togather with stormy sky, impressive natural phenomenon, clear to see the geographical feature, the hand add humourous feel to the scenery, good shoot.
