Photographer’s Note
In the Himalayas, in general the term Jhula is used to denote a hanging or cantilever bridge. The bridge shown here is at Rishikesh at the foothills of the Himalayas. It is named after Lord Rama. It is also known as SHIVANANDA Jhula or bridge.Incidentally, there is another similar hanging bridge over the Ganga few kilometres upstream, called LACHHMANJHULA (named after the younger brother of Lord Rama). Previously such bridges were built of ropes, but now-a-days steel cables are in use.
