Photographer’s Note
On the way to Uchisar, one of the most impressive villages of Cappadocia, there is a place where most tourist buses make a stop, because it offers a great panoramic view, not only to the village, but also to the entrance of Pigeon Valley. That's were you can find this strange tree. The fear of the "evil eye", the fear of "bad energy" is among the many things that Greeks and Turks have in common.

Bonjour Hercules,

Hi Giritli, I say "Maşallah" to your photo which we used to say in Turkey for such beautiful things to save them from evil eyes :)
The one in the WS looks better but I prefer this one since it is more realistic.
Best regards,
Tolga

Hola fiera.

Hallo Hercules,
I prefer the colored one, although I would have preferred a tree with slightly desaturated leaves, but this is purely personal and subjective. The composition is perfect and there is a nice contrast between the sautrated colors of the soio and the grey sky.

Hello Hurcules
I like the altered image much better, more dramtic, and makes you an active part of the image. Putting your artistic influence into an image can bring emotion that might not have been there in the first place.......if that makes sence. It is the final product that matters, not technical. Keep them coming Hurcules. The altered image would look good on TL.
Have a nice day
Jimmy

ciao Hercules,
I immediatly recognize this tree....you're right...plenty of tourists just stop there to enjoy the sight on Uchisar castle and Pigeon's valley....most of them make their stop over there because of the shops behind the spot you took this shot....and because of the provisions booked by the local guiddes....
ciao

Hallo Hercules!
A contribution really in therms of TE! What a place, what an captivating atmosphere, especially for a viewer "from the rational north" ;-)) A photo to look at a bit longer ...
By the way, I like this -natural- one better than the ws-photo.

Hello dear Hercules,
Which "treasures" are still on the way from your last Turkey trip ?
This one is -for us- very well known, but for european eyes quite strange.
You have captured it perfectly. This one is my favorite.
TFS and best regards
MESUT ILGIM
PS.I have posted a WS to you, I made this summer on a small island at the turkish Aegean coasts. On a little Byzantine Chapel (Hagios Nicolaos)mainly russian tourists has turned an olive tree to a "wishing tree" ! Hope you'll like it. Tell me only which part of it !

Hi Hercules,
Definately a strange tree.
The capture is fantastic with the
all the marvelous colours. I like
this version better though the other
one suits the title and note better.
(evil eye and bad energy)
Best regards.

Abrazos.

Hi Hercules,
I cannot believe this tree, it is wonderful. I like the way the eyes seem luminous with the light shining through them and the branches fill the frame so well. I am sure the village is well protected with this tree watching over them.

Geia sou Hercules, I have heard about the "evil eye" before but am fascinated by this tree charm to ward it off! The blue glass looks spectacular against the dramatic sky and wonderful terrain. Great close-up and thianks for giving us a look into Turkish (and Greek) customs. Best regards, Lisa

Hello Hercules,
What a pretty tree! I am sure it is well protected from the forces of evil!
I do like the artistic result you achieved through desaturation in your WS picture, but I think this one is even better: the purplish tones of the sky and the burnt orange of the rocks go so well with the electric blue of the eyes.
Compliments and greetings Prague! Dasha

A strange tree indeed and very colourful. The backdrop of gray sky works well to enhance the colour.

Hola Hercules,
Carlos

hello Hercules,
I like this quirky scene. A tree full of guardian eyes. This could be from a folk story or fairy tale.I like the blue with the gold. There si enchantment here.
This is a coincidence, as today I was reading a PDF document through an article link in The Times Educational Supplement. I have been thinking of having a tree dressing activity for the school lbrary I manage, not just a for Christmas but after. I had thought of tying New Year wishes to a tree. Again, coincidentaaly the article mentioned Kev Ryan ( a UK TE member) who also has something to do with The Charnwood Arts Trust, a community organisation. They had set up a tree dressing event.
best regards,
Bev
