Coconut Ice cream in Chatuchak Photo

Bangkok’s famous weekend market Chatuchak is not only shopping till you drop but also an amazing wide selection of food and drinks, like this coconut ice cream vendors. Some months ago a group of young people had the idea, to serve creamy coconut ice cream in the original coconut shell. The new style is favorite with young and old, everybody likes this innovative style of eating refreshing coconut ice cream, especially when it is hot, but even during this year’s monsoon this new style ice cream sells like hot cakes.

Thai ice cream is quite different from Western style ice cream in that it is made from coconut milk, and therefore is non-dairy or vegetarian. This is a great alternative to those that are lactose intolerant.

Hi Urs: You are making my mouth waters while reading your note. We should start this fad here in Malaysia too. It'll be a big business I'm sure. How much are they selling it anyway?

Bonjour Urs,
La photo est très nette et d'excellente qualité. Les couleurs sont attrayantes.
On a très envie de goûter ces glaces à la noix de coco.
Ici, nous en avons également, mais ce n'est pas fait avec le lait de coco.

Olá Ulf, this market might be the best place in Bkk for daily life photos with local people. I had great fun there, specially in the aquarium area. This is a wonderful capture. I like not only the people but also the graphism from the cocunuts at the bottom and umbrellas on top. I wonder if that woman is japonese and is checking the dictionary...
