Photographer’s Note
First day off work for over a fortnight, so I was up early this morning and headed for Lanark Loch and waited for the sun to break through the trees and across the loch. It was a beautifully clear and calm morning with some frost still clinging to a few of the trees though it rapidly disappeared in the warming sun.
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

Hello John
Very nice atmosphere well captured, colors are beautiful and natural.
Maybe it would be better not including the grass and the concrete on the foreground.
Well done

Hi John,
Really a beautiful picture! Interesting to see the weak pink colour that the early sunlight brings to the frosty parts of the trees. Where there any leaves left? Excellent reflections too.
Kind regards

Hello John
Fascinating...its so beautiful see the admixture of autumn hues and frost on the trees. Framing is excellent with the silhouetted foliage at the top...your crop to the present pano format works well. Fine light which also helped in getting good reflections. Good work!
With Regards
Angshu
PS : Quite a coincidence...I also began my fortnight off-work from the 9th. But unlike you I don't have such beautiful places to venture to :-(

Hello John ,
What a beauty ! It could be a calendar picture . Colors , clarity and sharpness are outstanding . The frosty parts at the summit of the trees are the cherry on the cake .
Congratulations

Hi John.
What a stunner.
The sky, the golden leaves, the frost, the reflection, the overhanging foliage, it all goes together in superb proportions. The light and colour are incredible, well worth an early rise. I don't mind the foreground grass at all, especially as there is a strip of sunlight shining through. Great work.

Andrew

Hello John,
Looking at the map view, this must be a very handy spot close to Lanark for you to visit. A peaceful and restful place to unwind after a long stretch at work.
The composition is excellent - the eye is led easily into the image from the right hand side, along the waterline where the branches of the trees come right down to the surface, then on to the far side, where that round, white-frosted tree is placed close to an intersection of thirds.
Beautiful light and a lovely sky.
The frosty grass of the foreground helps give a sense of perspective and is balanced by the branches overhead. The reflections in the water are superb.
A fine, clear and sharp photograph, with great autumn colours.
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hi John,
Great POV on this lovely scenery. I love how you used the tree to create a frame for your photo. The light is fantastic and I love the contrast between this warm light and the frost on some trees. Excellent sharpness too.
Regards,
Olivier
