Elche in Spanish or Elx in Valencian - is a city located in the comarca of Baix Vinalopó, in the Alicante Province. Elche has a population of some 245,000 inhabitants, ranking as the third most populated city in the Valencian Community after Valencia and Alicante.

This is a perspective of one of Elche's principal avenues - Avenguida Ferrocarril. In Elche many people are current Valencian speakers and the names of the streets are actually in Valencian.

Spanish name: Avenida de Ferrocarril (Avenue of Railway).


In this area you can find the "Elche Park" Railways Station and a Campus of UMH - University of Miguel Hernández.


Elche Palm Grove - the Palmeral of Elche (Spanish: Palmeral de Elche, Valencian: Palmerar d'Elx) surrounds the city being the largest palm grove in Europe.
It is an orchard of over 220,000 palm trees that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000.
