Photographer’s Note

Crepuscular rays can be formed by shadows on thin fog or mist, here the dark hedge provides a good contrast for the sunlit fog. Although the rays appear to be diverging to the left it is easy to see that they are really travelling parallel with the narrow lane.

The leaves casting shadows are much further away than the pools of light at the end of the shafts of sunlight. Because of this perspective and the low sun the illusion of diverging rays is still strong.

Well people yesterday it was a beautiful day in the Netherlands. I was looking for the rays that morning and I had luck. I hope you like the shot.

You too wanted to take the challenge of the autumn leaves plus the difficult situation of the filtering sunrays. Thanks to those two bigger trees which are detached from the others the picture has a good sense of depth and a nice focal point. The light rays create a very pleasant atmosphere. Superb shot which includes the beautiful autumn scene and the sunrays coming through the trees. As you mentioned it's important here the presence of a thin fog or mist, you did very well covering the sun with the trunk and branches of the trees. Very well captured with a magnificent light management in a backlight condition.

The effect of light is excellent, as the rays goes in every directions, filling the centre of your image. And the way you have framed the scene, the foreground trees are all on the right side and by doing so, the balance create a visual stress that makes a strong composition.

Very nice autumn photo with a good management of the light and exposure: not so easy with point of view against the light.
The composition works well, mainly thanks to the place taken by the ray of light.
I have only one question regarding the diaph you selected: why did you close so much?
With the size of the pixel and regarding diffraction issue, closing more than f/16 on the 5D mk2 will not produce an increase of the deep of field but only a degradation of the sharpness.
