Photographer’s Note
it was easy to decide which photo to chose for the 100th post from the US. I didn't have anything left from Yellowstone National Park, my Number 1 Favourite in the US, so I turned to Antelope Canyon, my dream and my disappointment. still, I'm glad I have been there, and I'm pretty sure I'm going back there soon.
about the photo: I left the shadows dark intentionally, I wanted to emphasise difference between light and dark, and also to have more abstract image.

Hello Kristine,
Is it also a 90° tilted photo?
I like the play of light of colors making me dreaming to visit one day this place.
I understand your choice to keep deep dark in the top to play with contrast, but perhaps the area is a bit too high. I would have propose a small crop to reduce this area.
Yves.

Hi Kristine,
a good play with the light. I see it was very low considering the settings but the result is quite pleasant and the dark areas really do their part in this sense. A mysterious place, you chose a good one for the celebration. Congrats! :))

hello Kristine
Congrats for your 100th american post
If you're disapointed I'm even more than you are since, even though I've been many times to this western part of the USA, never a visit to Antelope canyon has been in my achievements
Just put the blame on myself !
Also I share your view on Yellowstone NP
Superb minimalistic and graphic interpretation here
What a colors gradient!
Bravo
have a nice day

Hello Kristine ... another treat for us from your hands ... playing with light and dark parts, and you knew how to do it. You chose a wonderful moment for no. 100 ... and I really hope that one day you find the light you were looking for ... sometimes we have to return several times to find what we have in mind. Every once in a while I think how easy it was before TE, I just travelled ... :))) but I appreciate what I have learned and I do not want to have it any different actually, so why not returning twice or three times if necessary ... Beautiful shot ... have a great week, Barbara.

Hello Kristine ,
What an outstanding picture for your 100th ! I agree totally about your choice of giving a large place to the dark (black) part . That provides a gorgeous effect , and enhances the beauty of the lightened coloured rocks . Also , the diffences of more or less shady parts are superb . The framing is excellent .
Congratulations

Hi Kristine,
I never ever get tired of shots from this place, especially if they're like this one. Uncluttered and elegant. Definitely works for me.

This is really good, Kristine, I think you have a feeling for a good presentation. At least I myself would have done the same ;))) The interplay between light and shadows is so prominent in this way. Splendid colors.
Cheers

Hi Kristine
Superb. An unusual way to frame it, as most of the pictures from the Antelope canyon are vertical. Your choice to enhance the shadows contrasts is excellent, this striking result increases the mystery effect. The very feminine, soft curves suggest the caress of the sand and the wind... The light is divine. Congratulations

Hi Kristine, congratulations on this amazing 100th photo of America, your adopted home. It's a very fitting photo. I love the mood you have set with the play of light, shadows texture and contours. What a wonderful place. The dark areas around the lit ones make it even more mysterious and abstract. The depth is enviable. Thanks for sharing and here's to seeing many hundreds more photos from you. Hugs, Lisa.

Hello Kristine
Even without adequate light, the gradient of colours is amazing, as are the sweeping curves, as if created by an artist's broad brush. Two questions on this beautiful post...1. did you rotate this 90 degrees 2. did you do spot metering on the brightest part ie the flaming orange part?
Congratulations on your 100th American post...and look fwd to see many more from you
Best Regards
Angshu
For the first time I think Kristaps has commented in Latvian...quite unusual:-)

I did like this photo from the first moment I saw it in the thumbnail without even knowing what it was! (And that I think is meaningful...) And I do appreciate it even better now that I opened it and know it is a Canyon!
I do approve your choice of having the shadows completely black so to focus on the illuminated parts with their beutiful colours and textures. It's a highly graphic and aestetic composition thanks to that choice too.
My best compliments both for this wonderful photo and for your 100th post from the US,
Donato

Hi, Kristine -
Like Yves, I wondered if this is a 90° tilt, but even if so, it's an intriguing interpretation. And I agree with your decision to keep most of it in shadows. At first I wanted to crop a little from the left, but the more I look at it, the more I think you've made a good balance here.
Reading from left to right, one sees movement from darkness to light - in effect, creation. You could definitely promote it as an abstract with that theme.
Best,
Dan
PS: Congratulations on #100!

hello christine,
this place never ceases to amaze me, and your photo is a lyrical version of it - the rock and the texture like a silk scarf, the light like the suggestion of something, almost an anticipation...
oh, and congratulations on your 100th =)

Hi Kristine,
It is a magnificent choice for this opportunity and that corresponds well in your gallery and in your searches around the abstraction .
I like particularly the way with which the forms, the lines and the colors get lost brutally in the shade.
A really great shot!
Bravo!

Hi Kristine,
Congratulations on your 100th shot. I saw the "disappointment" shot, that one is also pretty amazing. Even though you had to fight it out, the result is pretty stunning. The colors are great and the texture of the rocks are really worth marvelling at.

Hello Kristine!
Outstanding photo, looks like an abstract painting, nature's doing magic, but it takes a great photographer to capture such beauty! Great "eye" in this one, excellent framing and composition, splendid, "dark" light management, beautiful colours and shapes! Congratulations!
