Photographer’s Note
The village center of Rateče. Not many people on the streets. Rateče is a small farming village located in the northwest corner of Slovenia. It sits on foothill of the Karawanke Alps and faces the Julian Alps to the south (seen here behind the buildings). It is surrounded by fields, meadows, and pastures. See previous upload for this. Principal economic activities are agriculture and tourism. It is a starting point for a walk to the summit of Peč (also known as Tromeja), the point where the borders of Austria, Italy and Slovenia meet. The settlement of the village was first mentioned in 1385. It still retains much of its historic character. One of the oldest surviving churches in Slovenia, the Church of St. Thomas, is located in the village.

Hello Latiff, Still in Slovenia. Well this is a real nice shot of the village. The yellow coloring of the background building is very interesting. Almost like the Hapsburg yellow one finds in Austria. I am glad you have the mountains there in the background as they seem to add depth to this shot. Very well done. Regards, Roger
