Photographer’s Note

Alter Markt (Old Market Square) of Potsdam in 2007.
Twenty years after fall of Berlin Wall, central Berlin looks pretty much 'westernized'. Elsewhere process takes much longer, showing the country in various states of changes.
In this picture Nikolaikirche is under renovations. Empty site in the foreground is the place of Stadtschloss, damaged by bombing in 1945 and demolished in 1961 by communist authorities. This castle is to be rebuilt and in the middle Fortunalportal is the first step of this process. On the left, DDR era office building is already on a state of decay, and is probably very low on a priority list to be rescued.

Highlights toned towards yellow and shadows towards blue.

(Title Changes, a Black Sabbath song from the album Black Sabbath Vol 4, 1972.)
