A huge statue at the entrance of the Mahawizaya Pagoda, just below the famous Shwedagon Pagoda... Typical of modern temple style in Myanmar...
The name Mahawizaya, obviouslyly derives itself from the Sanskrit, Maha Vijaya, meaning Great Victory.

Le premier mot qui vient à l'esprit en voyant cette sculpture c'est "gigantesque" !
J'admire l'état général de ces sculptures.
Très bon cadrage avec ce jeune en dévalant cet escalier.

Je me souviens qu'il faisait très chaud et que le sol était brûlant ;) un bon timing sur ce jeune dévalant les escaliers nous donnant une bonne idée de la grandeur de la statue. belle lumière, bon rendu des couleurs surtout les tons dorés/rosés. Sympas les oiseaux perchés sur la tête du lion!

Oh I like this one Laurent. What a splendid example of a Buddhistic lion. I am fascinated by the way that the lion has become the chosen guardian beast in so many different cultures, even in lands where they could never have seen one.You have framed this one nicely, just to one side and balanced by the chedi. regards kevin

Curieuse statue, on dirait des fesses féminines d'après un copain qui a jeté un coup d'oeil sur cette image.

Imposante cette statue c'est le moins que l'on puisse dire et les couleurs tape à l'oeil font que l'on ne peut pas la louper... Belle mise en valeur de ce perchoir à pigeons sous ce magnifique soleil et ciel bleu. Le jeune homme qui semble bien pressé donne de la dynamique à l'image. Belle et intéressante photo, merci Laurent.

The light is good as it illuminates the giant statue well. But the giant lion (or a hybrid) is strongly influenced by Thai motifs...correct me if I'm wrong! Good perch the pigeons have got on top of its head...reminds me of the joke about the statue of NELSON in Trafalgar Square!

I find no distortion in this one, what is your secret? Happy Pizza? I like the tight crop. Did you lie down on the floor to take this one, then why no distortion with this lens? :p
