Photographer’s Note

Back to the year of 2007....

Just a simple glimpse of "pure Nature" with a touch of "civilization" represented by the the Kaknäs tower (Kaknästornet) - a TV tower.

The photo was taken on Djurgården, but pretty far from the main "tourist area", deeper into the main part of the island - that's why there are no people around (it's an answer to those who, maybe, will think that it would be nice if there was someone walking along the road...).

No matter how many times I walked this far along this particular road, close to the water, I hardly met 2-3 people (most probably they live in this part of the island as there are houses near the road, they are just hidden by the trees).

Info:

Kaknäs tower is a major hub of Swedish television, radio and satellite broadcasts. It was finished in 1967, designed by architect Bengt Lindroos, and the height is 155 meters (including antenna 170 meters).

It can not communicate with some southern satellites due the environmental orders that protect the ancient oak trees owned by the King of Sweden. These block the "line-of-sight".

Hello Elena,
A beautiful view from Djurgården and a fine shot in many ways. The composition is very good with the curving road leading the eye into the scene and to wonder what is behind the last curve. The tree on the left frames the photo nicely and kind of frames also the TV tower into a separate small window. I like also the play of the shadows, the beautiful sky with some white summer clouds, the greenness and the lovely summer atmosphere, which you have caught so well. I did not walk this far either myself last summer. I can see that I should have done it. :-) Thanks for sharing!

Hi Elena,
A Technical jewel. The tree on the left frames the picture and give at the same time support to th TV tower. The footpath draws us into the frame, alive wit spots of light and shadow. And to topi t all there is a beautiful sky with nice white summer clouds. Splendid.

Hello Elena,
A very nice photo, well framed om both sides, and showing us a little of everything: a road, a lot of vegetation, water, the (relatively) modern tower and an older, stately building. It sums up Djurgården fairly well, except that there are usually some people going for a walk on roads like this :-).
Oh yes, there was, but behind the camera.

But if the tourists discover this place surely it will be flooded by them. It's a very pleasant place, as I imagine, by your note and by this photo.I like this road and the curve . Really very nice composition.

You showed quite calm corner of Stockholm and even TV tower fits very harmoniously in this landscape. Your beautiful shot awakes memories of gone summer.

Hi Elena,
A very pleasant picture and obviously anso a pleasant place, thogh I´ve never been here... You have used the tree to the left as a good natural frame. The little road curves nicely along the blue water. This is really in the middle of summer, that´s quite clear! Nice photo to look at today...

Hi Elena,

I am glad to see that you are back again and to learn that everything is OK. Your picture is very well composed and it must me one the more original photos taken of Kaknästornet. Even if it is far away it is no doubt about it that it is the main subject. This is very surprising since the scene would be really beautiful also without Kaknästornet. A mastery photo-job. This is a great sunny day shot with nice shadows as well. The winding road leads the eye into the scene nicely. The off centered placement of the TV tower works well drawing our attention across the frame. The lighting and colors are fine and the photo has nice sharpness.

dear Elena,
beautiful and cozy shadow on the summer island road.
winding road and wood, diagonal sky and river are making fine perspective.
the tower and house are good distant accent in it.
just I feel walking on this road, the breeze feels cool in this shadow.

Hello Elena.
A well proportioned square crop, combining a charming waterside path with a modern ('modern' - 1967??) piece of utilitarian architecture. I particularly like the curve of the path, the shadows, and the way you have used the near tree to frame the structure, and of course the fine looking yellow house. Lovely sky overhead. A thoughtfully composed and thoroughly pleasing photo. Well done.

Djurgården again with its peaceful and charming lanes near the water... You took a fine view with the path giving a good sense of depth and perspective and the yellow house in the bg as a fine focal point. And it's very nice to see that portion of water at the left with the reeds and some birds.
Maybe the hour of the day was not the ideal, the light seems very strong.
