Autumn Cottage Photo

Photographer’s Note

While driving around town in Coquitlam BC, i was looking for victorian style homes with autumn foliage.

I settled on this beauty. Here we have a cottage home, with just what i was looking to capture - alot of autumn leaves and a black/brown dark tree trunk.

I'm very pleased with this photo for one specific reason - this was taken from Inside my Car! I had to shoot it thru my front windshield due to timing and circumstances..I couldn't use my tripod either.

All in all, i'm very happy with the results, considering i didn't have time to focus on composition and expsoure levels.

Hello Craig. Whether you had time for composition or not what I like here is the way the old house is tucked extremely to the left of the scene and open space allowing distant views on the right. Add to that the orange trim on the house is the icing on the cake and I project is what made you stop to take this shot. Good eye.

Very well done in the circumstances. The colors are superb and the house id well placed in the photo. I like the gazebo in the background. I think the chimney needs repair before winter...

For a grab shot you did really well. The house is well placed in the scene and the orange trim yies in nicely with the foliage.

Fantastic autumn scene with many great qualities. For example the orange trim of the cottage matches all the orange autumn leaves. The dark black trunk of the tree matches the black rooftop of the cottage too. This ensures our eyes explore every aspect of this shot. Lovely to look at.

I can see the falling leaves, very nice autumn view where all the floor cover with withered leaves, I like the posture of the tree with bent branches, good frame to the house and the surrounding environment, full in poetic flavour, good shoot.

This is a nicely composed shot with the house placed off center and the golden tree providing balance. The leaves provide excellent color for the scene. The lighitng and colors are nice and the photo has excellent sharpness.

Unfortunately, I have never been to amazing Canada. This enormous country with a nature similar to Swedens. But I will go there someday, and BC is on the top of my list !
