Photographer’s Note
One of desolate tree stubs strewn across the slopes of Meikle Tap. Mither Tap and other summits of Bennachie can be seen in the very background, to the left of the frame.
The higher summit of Meikle Tap is elevated 359m above sea level. The Marilyn is located 1.5 miles north of Hirn in Aberdeenshire.
In 1562, a skirmish between the followers of Mary Queen of Scots under the Earl of Moray and the Earl of Huntly took place in the marshy hollow of Corrichie, south-west of the hill.
