Photographer’s Note
Castle of Ray-sur-Saône is a stronghold of the tenth century and eighteenth century with classical style in Ray-sur-Saône in Franche-Comte (listed village "Small City comtoise of Character"). The private castle is in perfect condition and the park is open to visitors during the tourist season.
In the eleventh century the village belongs to the Abbey of Saint Vincent from Chalon-sur-Saone, which yields the count of Burgundy in the thirteenth century, sold by them to "Baron Otton de Ray" from Castle "de La Roche".
"Otton de la Roche" became Baron of Ray by marrying his cousin Isabelle Ray (daughter of Lord Ray Guy).
Otton built on an ancient Gallo-Roman oppidum perched on a spur overlooking the Saône, this castle has 14 towers (largest fortress County of Burgundy in the Middle Ages) in an area of 5 hectares. The park will be planted with the time of tree species from around the world: cedars, limes, Sophora, spruces, pines, Foyard, sycamore, ash and chestnut ...
Since Otton, the castle is transmitted in the family of the Dukes of Choiseul-Marmier then by marriage to Gabrielle Marmier with Count Hubert de Salverte and their daughter Diane of Salverte.
The castle was heavily damaged during the Thirty Years War (1618-1648), the castle will be razed in retaliation for the asylum offered to Gaston d'Orleans in the Shire (source to the discovery of France, 1988 Edition Reader's Digest ) and then rebuilt in its present form in the late seventeenth century and eighteenth century on the foundations of the original medieval fortress.

Claude.

Hi Cyrille
Right away i said to myself, that is a perfect example of composition at its best!
The tree branches bracket, and hold together the scene for you in a precise manner.
The low point of view brings the viewer eyes directly downt the front path towards the Door.
The depth of field and sharpness are excellent.
One of your best!
have a great day

Bonjour Cyrille,
This is a very nice POV with very good symetry, and I like that you put us on the road leading us in to the main subject, this is one of those occasion you can put the subject right in the center. Beautiful colors, good light, good sharpness and texture of the castle. and the clouds are just beautiful and puffy, the tree branches complete the frame very nicely. Thanks.

Hello Cyrille
Good symmetric composition excellent framed by the leaves. The sharpness is good and displays many details. The road with its guard stones gives a great depth of field and leads the eye towards the point of interest. Very good work, Cyrille. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice evening.
Best regards, Erling

Bonjour Cyrille
Une bonne présentation de ce château, il semblerait qu'il y avait peu de visiteurs, et j'aime le fait que tu aies inclus ces feuillages qui embellissent l'image et donnent de la profondeur.

I have looked at the your beautiful gallery and I have to say that you are an excellent photographer. This image is fantastic, technically perfect, with a pleasant symmetry and a good sharp. Also the composition is correct, with the trees in the FG that give depth to the photo. Compliments!
