Photographer’s Note
questa foto e' stata scattata a Derry una domenica pomeriggio - colonna sonora: every day is like Sunday
I never liked Sundays - I didn't like them as a child and I don't like them now as an adult. Sundays were for me sheer torture: the extended lunches, the unbearable relatives and my beautiful, rich cousins coming to visit, the endless stupid TV programs, the empty streets, the feeling that the day was over before it even began... I got rid of the beautiful cousins and the extended lunches, I live in a city where shops are open also on Sundays, but that feeling of uneasiness is still there. and Sunday afternoon TV programs still suck.
shot taken on a Sunday afternoon in Derry.

"I never liked Sundays"...ahaha that a big thing in common between us..i felt it even today :)
My school - St Xaviers had a similar architecture to building on the left with gothic pillars..very characteristic..
definitely a sunday street..not many people though..just the one lone man and hey..one billboard too..
have your fav wine or chocolates..takes the uneasiness away

Hello Cristina,

Hello Cristina,
The black and white treatment brings a melancholy feel to this almost empty street, which is very evocative of Sunday afternoons. The solitary man walking up the street also contributes to the mood.

Ciao Chris,
Brava!

Hi Cris, I find the image has an eerie and unreal quality about. If you did not state it was Derry i would be hard pressed to guess in which country it was taken, the place seems to have had a face lift , not the Derry i knew way back, when i was doing a six mile cross country run ,and on a Sunday no time to be bored. For me teenage memories . Thanks Tom.

Dettaglio perfetto. Inutile sottolineare l'eccellenza del BW
