Photographer’s Note
We had one really lousy weather day in France, so we decided to go to Chartres, figuring the inside of the cathedral would be spectacular in any weather. And so it was.
But there were also interesting views to be had outside, even on a gray day. I took this photo from the banks of the L'Euer river below the cathedral (which, typically for a medieval cathedral, occupies the high point). The tree to the left was one of the finest examples of fall color I've seen since I left the NE United States; it reminds me of a sugar maple, but I think it's more likely a liquid amber tree.
Technical: Bit of cropping, some Levels and Curves.

Hi Daniel,
It is the tree about which you had spoken to me. I think that it is a maple (but an European variety!).
The contrast between facades beige and this red tree is very successfull.
You managed to create a beautiful atmosphere with this white sky. I looked at photos on your site. Some please me a lot:Métro Stalingrad call phone, Quai des orfèvres, Ghosts at the rotonde...
Have e nice WE
Amicalement
Diane
