Photographer’s Note

The worried expression of a luzzu in Marsaxlokk in Malta. The luzzus are the typical fishing boats of the Malta fishermen. They are not the only typical boat of the Maltese islands, there are also the dghajsas that are similar to luzzus but with higher bows and sterns. Dghajsas are also onder in tradition as they have Phoenician origins. Luzzus are better known for their funny eyes, the eyes of Osiris. The were placed on boat's bow as a good luck for the work on the sea.
