Photographers Note
My fourth portrait is the famous swiss writer Friedrich Dürrenmatt.
Just 3 years before his death (1990) he payed a visit to İstanbul with his wife. And they stayed for a while in Divan Hotel, which I was managing at that time.
First thing I did was sending a wellcome basket to his room with different local fruits and two bottles of wine.
The next day after his arrival I took my camera with me and knocked his door. Asking him if I may make some photographs of him ! This is one of those -only- 6 pictures I could make; as he was (you can see it) very photoshy and seemingly not in the best mood.
But the other day I had the chance to guide him and his wife through the historical beauties of İstanbul; and from those few days in İstanbul I have 2 books of him, with his signature and dedication to me : "The Physicist" and "The Marriage of Mr. Mississippi".
Also this entry is been scanned from a b&w print.
Ertesi gün eşi ile birlikte İstanbulun güzelliklerini gösterdim Dürrenmatt'a.

Schoenes Weekend, liebe Gruesse, Barbara.

at least your being around and sharing this gives the opportunity to take a look and get a sense of aesthetics..and technicality...is this high key or a low key composition...seems a mixture of both
