Photographer’s Note
Today I came across this old photo taken in 1973 by my husband, of a building in which we and our friends spent many holidays, see here.
It was scanned about 10 years ago and looked very dull. Auto levels improved it, but I could not get the willowherb flowers in the foreground to show their colour until I used a small amount of highlight reduction with the shadow/highlight tool - the change was dramatic!

Hello Winifred,
A thirty-six year old scanned shot with as much dynamism as one from a modern digital camera. I especially like the deep contrasts revealing the textures of the roof tiling. I imagine the old mill must be from the 17th century.
Warm regards, Winifred.

Just incredible, Winifred...
You did a brilliant job of PP to get such outstanding exposure. Excellent light and contrast, amazing detail and lovely color. I like the view looking down and the pretty pink flowers in the FG. Well done!! Many thanks and warmest wishes,

Hi Wini
In 1973 I was 25 years old.
Only the roof windows are recent.
Good dominant POV but The DOF is not enough for the foreground.
best regards

Hi Winifred,
I wouldn't guess it was a scan, even less of a 36 years old. You did a superb work in PP, as the colours and light are very good. I like also the compo, your husband had a good eye to explore the graphics of the the architecture choosing this not so usual POV for a house and the tight framing.
Regards,
José

Hi winifred,
As I see, İt is a sentimental building for you. And your photo reflects your memories..
Good POV, good light, good photo

bonjour,
